We offer a ticketing service for the best bus transport options in Bolivia enabling you to book online in advance bus tickets for Bolivia to and from a variety of destinations.

We offer the best buses available on each route and we do not offer every option there is because we simply don’t trust some companies - there are far too many accidents on Bolivia’s roads and we want to offer the safest options we can.

We are a fully licensed travel agency, and this is a requirement to sell transportation tickets & services in Bolivia. Online services without a travel agency licence do not have the required insurances & bonds to sell tickets so should anything go wrong you have no protection so you should  be careful using such services.

TYPES OF BUS IN BOLIVIA

In this section we provide some explanations for those not familiar with the common terms used in Bolivia (and South America) when describing Bus ticket services.

TYPES OF BUS TICKET SERVICE

Apart from the types of seating (see below) on the bus services we refer to two types of service that we offer, and they are “Tourist Bus” and “Local Bus” (unspecified services would come under this type). This describe more the service itself than the physical bus and we explain the differences here:

TOURIST BUS – We use this to describe bus services that are targeted towards mostly foreign tourists visiting the country. They typically (although not exclusively) offer a higher level of service and may include additional things such as English-speaking attendants/guides, movies in English, pickups and/or drop offs from hotels, meals or snacks, blankets, onboard toilets functioning and open.

They are typically only available on the most common tourist routes and are usually the services that have the best safety record on those routes.

LOCAL BUS - We use this term to describe the bus services that we offer that are not “Tourist Bus” type services. That generally means they are not marketed towards tourists (although plenty of tourists use them) and will not include hotel pickups or drop offs. They also will likely not have any English-speaking assistance, movies if available will be in Spanish, onboard toilets are often locked and unavailable (not always but that is quite common). They are less likely to include food, snacks or drinks although some of the higher-level services do.

There is a big variation between standards on local bus companies and the available services and that also includes safety levels. We work with only the best local bus companies that have consistently the best safety records.

TYPE OF BUS SEATING

We also refer to the type of bus seating that is offered and here we describe the 3 main types that are typically available.

CAMA BUS – This refers to seating that reclines back to approximately 160 -170 degrees and is the most comfortable bus type available in Bolivia. Whilst the word Cama translates in English to “Bed” it does not mean it lies completely 180 degrees – there is no bus services in Bolivia that doesn’t this.

So, if you read “fully reclining” or “lie flat” it is referring to this type of seating that goes almost flat but not completely.

Cama Bus generally come in too service types and those are 3 Row (3 Filas)  and 4 Row (4 Filas) type aisle arrangements. The 3 row type have two side by side rows of seats on one side of the bus and a row that has just single seat. This is more spacious and the best bus type available. The 4 row cama bus type has the standard bus layout of 2 rows either side of a central aisle each containing 2 seats.

SEMI CAMA BUS – This as you might guess is a seat that reclines but is only “semi reclining” usually to about 130 -140 degrees. These are still pretty comfortable.

NORMAL BUS – we use this to refer to anything that is not cama or semi-cama type seats that usually means standard seating that may recline a little bit to 110 -120 degrees or may not even recline at all depending on the bus.
