BOLIVIA HOTEL & HOSTEL BOOKING

CLICK TO BROWSE HOTELS

We offer a hotel booking service for a number of select hotels around Bolivia that we believe can offer the visitor something a little bit special.

We have tried to find places that offer a little more than just being a hotel but have a special touch.

It might be a historical building or homely feel, super friendly service or unique décor but each of the options we offer comes recommended by us.

So if you are the type of traveler who wants their accommodation to be a little bit special or a backpacker that simply fancies a little bit of extra luxury for a night or two then please take a look at our options and we hope you will find something to suit.

If you find a hotel that you think is special and think it should be included in our service please let us know and why you think so.

If you are a hotel owner or manager and wish to work with us please send us your details, why you think you offer something unique and we will be happy to take a look at your hotel.

Hotel Facilities

Obviously, each hotel we offer has different facilities that are included but there here we give some general advice that might be useful to know about the hotel services in Bolivia.

WiFi

Most hotels and hostel in Bolivia now include free wifi service as standard but it must be noted that the number one thing complained about in reviews for hotels in Bolivia is the Wifi connection.

We think it is worth pointing out that in most cases this is not the fault of the hotel itself but the quality of internet services in Bolivia. Hotels might offer great WiFi signals around the establishment but that Wifi is still connected to Bolivian internet providers and speeds are a fraction of those available in Europe, US and many other countries. Also, they can be unreliable.

So please consider this if you are about to give a review to a hotel and are thinking of marking them down because of this. Of course, if you can’t get a Wifi signal at all then that’s down to the hotel!

Heating

In places like La Paz, Uyuni, Potosi and other high-altitude cities it can get quite cold at night. In general, most buildings in Bolivia do not have double glazed windows, insulation and central heating systems.

So it can get a bit chilly in some hotel rooms. If this is the case for your hotel most places will offer additional blankets free of charge and may also be able to provide you with a gas heater for the room.

Safety Note – if you are provided with a gas heater for your room DO NOT leave it on when you go to sleep as there have been instances of carbon monoxide poisoning when people have done so.

Baggage Storage

Many people ask us about luggage storage facilities or if they can store their luggage with us for the day. We are not allowed to store luggage in our offices (local authority rule) and whilst there is a basic storage facility in the airport in La Paz we usually just tell people to store baggage in their hotel.
Just about every hotel has a storage facility and they are usually happy to keep your bags for you if you have stayed there and are leaving or are arriving on another date even. They will usually not charge for this service

Hostels in La Paz

Hostels in La Paz Bolivia

Whilst we do not offer a booking service for hostels in La Paz (it is easy to book direct with any of them or via sites like hostelworld.com) we provide you with a list of the very best ones here with some basic details about each.

Loki Hostel

Part of chain of hostels that started in Peru, Loki first opened in Cusco, followed by Lima then La Paz over 10 years ago. It has moved from its first location in an old colonial building to a huge multistory hotel building.

With the bar located on the top floor it provides good views across the city. It is a well-run hostel with great facilities that is mostly frequented by younger backpackers and therefore is a bit of a party hostel.

Offers every size of dorm room, girls only dorm and private rooms also.

Wild Rover Hostel

Irish owned and run you might expect there would be a few drinks consumed in such an establishment and you would be right.

Another chain of hostels that started in Peru and expanded to have a hostel in La Paz.

Wildrover can sleep over 200 guests and is famous for its crazy Patrick Days parties.

Offers some nice extras like “pod style” dorms with privacy curtains, girls only dorms, make-up room and of course has a lively bar.

Adventure Brew Hostel

This was the first backpacker style hostel in La Paz and takes its name from the fact there was an onsite brewery (the brewery has since moved to larger premises) of the local Saya Beer brands.

Pancake breakfasts and a free beer each night you stay are popular options and now they have a total of 3 locations in La Paz to choose from.

Located closed to the bus terminal there is the “B n B” which offers private rooms and a nice chilled out bar whilst a few door up is the “hostel” building with dorm style accommodations, table tennis table and bars. Finally, the latest addition is a smaller hostel closer to the center of town called Adventure Brew “Downtown Hostel”.

Adventure Brew attracts a mix of young backpackers but also a slightly older crowd and couples that don’t want to stay in Loki and Wildrover that are often a bit wilder.
