We will gather at a meeting point at 8.00 am and leave Huaraz on a private transport - on the way, we will make a few stops at local, picturesque villages (Monterrey, famous for its hot springs, Paltay, Tarica, Jangas) that perfectly match with the dominant, surrounding nature. We then get to a village called Anta that offers a great view of the Cordillera Blanca Mountain Range. Then we continue to Carhuaz, famous for its delicious, traditional homemade ice-cream, and then we will move to the abandoned city of Yungay and its Campo Santo, created by a huge earthquake that occured in 1970. The visit of this site will last for about 45 minutes.
We continue our trip and reach the Llanganuco lakes, first the Orconcocha lake, and then the Chinancocha lagoon, located at 3,863 meters above sea level. This lagoon is situated in a deep canyon between the Llanganuco Huandoy and Huascaran mountains. Here you will have some time to take a walk around the lake or go on a slow, chilled boat ride on the water, or do horseriding. You will also be able to spot a number of birds. Later we continue walking through the Maria Josefa trail, full of vegetation, till we meet with our transport. On the way back we will make a couple of stops in Caraz, where you will have time to buy your lunch (not included), and then in Callejón de Huaylas, where you can find nice and cheap souvenirs to take home. We will be back in Huaraz at around 19.00 (you will get dropped off at the same meeting point we left from).
