After 15 km we will make a short stop at a small lake called Patococha with good chances of witnessing local birdlife - such as wild ducks, the Andean goose, Caracara birds and others. We then make our way to the colour-changing lake of Pumapampa (this effect is due to the reaction of the radiation from the sun and the minerals contained in the lake's water), and we will also stop at some ancient petroglyphs before we finally arrive at Pastoruri.
We leave our van here and start a 1-km hike to the actual glacier - this is an easy trek but you can also choose to do it on a horseback ride (extra price). Once at the glacier we will have time to visit this stunning natural attraction, together with an ice cave. We will spend about one hour at Pastoruri and then return to the transport. On the way back we will make a stop at Catac where you can buy your lunch (not included), eventually arriving back in Huaraz at around 18.00.
