ITINERARYITINERARY
We will pick you up at around 14.15 (or 16.00 from Nov to Feb) from a meeting point and take you to the Moon Valley, which is about 12 km away from San Pedro. You will see upclose the clay and salt formations of the so-called “Three Marias” area - also, you will have the chance to visit strange and unique geological formations naturally carved by wind and water in this dry and hostile area. Take your time to observe and appreciate how forces of nature have patiently been molding this landscape over thousands of years from the Cordillera de la Sal viewpoint. We will then go for a walk through the Valle de la Muerte and later have time to explore the salt caves where you will see more salt formations hidden in this area. You will be impressed by the Tres Marias and Gran Duna, truly some of the most incredible places in the world. Enjoy the stunning sunset over the desert sands with the Licancabur volcano on the background as the landscape gets more and more colorful with shades of red, pink and blue - it's a surreal experience. You will be back in San Pedro at around 20.00 after finishing this exciting trip, a real must-do in South America.

IMPORTANT INFORMATIONIMPORTANT INFORMATION
-
We understand many people might decide to join this trip the same afternoon they finish their salt flats tour from Uyuni, Bolivia. This is usually possible as the transfer to San Pedro from the border is done at around midday and you get in at about 14.00. Having said this, should there be any delays in your salt flats tour, we cannot be responsible if you miss this tour as it is a separate tour and not part of the same package.
-
For this tour we recommend you bring your own drinking water, sunblock, sun hat, hiking shoes and jacket to wear after the sunset, as the temperature can considerably drop in late afternoon / evening.
-
Groups are usually from 6 to 12 but in busy times can be larger.
