This is the harder option of the Tuni Condoriri one day trek amongst the Cordillera Real Mountain Range passing through valleys of Llama pasture and by pristine lakes. This option starts a little further forward that the standard Tuni Condoriri trek in order to enable the trekkers to complete the route before dark. (please see separate Tuni - Condoriri 1 Day item)
Isca Khota to Pico Austria
At 7.00am you will be picked up from your hostel/hotel . The 2 hour drive passes through El Alto and onto the Altiplano where you start to see the Andean landscape and mountain ranges. We start a little further forward than the standard Tuni Condoriri trek at around al altitude of 4400meters. Before we start the trek we have the option of a hot drink of mate de coca or other tea.
The trail first passes through Llama pastures towards the Condoriri range were the walking is easy and gradually climbs in altitude. After a short time you will pass by a small lake called Isca Khota which offers a good view of Condoriri. From here you continue along the trail until arriving at Laguna Chiar Khota (4700m) where you will take a break to take in the mountain views before setting off on the climb up to pico Austria It should take around 1.5 to 2 hours to arrive here.
Next we start on the trail up to Pico Austria which steadily climbs, winding at first until we reach a ridge that takes us up to the summit. The views from the top look out towards the Condoriri Range and also when clear, across to Huayna Potosi.This climb will take around 2 to 3 hours for most people although well acclimatized trekkers can do it in less.
The return trek should be 3 hours or less . You should arrive back to La Paz around 6/7pm (depending on your trekking speed and traffic)
EMERGENCIES AND SAFETY – Our guides carry a first aid kit, portable oxygen cylinder, cel phone and long range radios. Also for your convenience the guide will have available “gaffa” tape for repairs or patching skin hotspots (pre blister areas on your feet), shoe laces, disinfectant hand wash.

The trek requires a minimum of 2 people in order to leave and for more than two the price decreases. Please choose the correct group size below when placing a booking and the price will be adjusted to the correct price (price is shown as per person). If you have a group size larger than the options available please contact us an can provide price details. if you are just one person and want to book you can place your booking using the 2 people price and we will try to find more people for your chosen date - if we cannot find more people we can cancel this booking and refund you.

PRIVATE /SHARED GROUPS
If you book for a group and you wish that trek to be private for your group only then please choose "private" for Group Option. If you choose the "shared" option we will look for more people to join your group on the requested date. If we increase your group size however we will refund you the difference in price for the group size should this apply.
