Chalalan Ecolodge

Chalalan is a world famous ecolodge founded in the early 1990s that is entirely owned and operated by the local indigenous community of San Jose de Uchupiamonas. Located on the shores of Chalalan Lagoon and situated inside the spectacular Madidi National Park in Bolivia. The lodge is reached by a 5 or 6 hour boat trip from Rurrenabaque up the Tuchi and Beni rivers.

The work of Chalalan has won eco tourism awards and the lodges have been made from local rainforest materials harvested using sustainable methods. The project was a collaboration with Conservation International and Yossi Ghinsberg was vital in helping the community find funding for the project

Chalalan offers the tourist memorable experiences in a pristine Amazon rainforest enviroment with the knowledge your money is contributing to both the conservation of the enviroment and to projects for the development of the local community.
