DAY 1 – Huaraz (3050m) – Cashapampa (3000m) – Llamacoral (3650m)
Distance 9 km - walking time 4/5 hours
You will be picked up from the hotel around 8am in private transport for the approximately 1.5 to 2 hours drive from Huaraz to Cashapampa where we will start our trek. Here the donkeys are loaded and we start to walk through a narrow canyon overlooking a river. Once we pass through the canyon we start to see our first glimpse of the Cordillera mountain scenery and this will continue throughout the day as we climb up to Llamacoral at an altitude of 3650 meters where we will set up camp for the night.
DAY 2 – Lamacoral – Taullipampa (4250 m)
Distance 10 km - walking time 6 hours
Breakfast in the camp before starting our day again and continuing to walk up the Santa Cruz valley with views of Alpamayo ahead. Today we will pass by some beautiful mountain lakes where we will stop for rest and take photos before continuing onto Taullipampa where we camp for the night at 4250 meters.
DAY 3 – Taullipampa – Punta Union pass (4750 m) – Cachinapampa (3750 m)
Distance 13 km - walking time 7/8 hours
Today trekking takes us up to the highest point of the trip where we will go over the Punto Unión pass at 4750 meter. Ascending to this pass we will feel the effects of the altitude and be very glad the donkeys are carrying the equipment! From the top of the pass we will be met by amazingly views of the Santa Cruz valley and the Cordillera Blanca mountain range. We will welcome to opportunity to exercise different muscle sets as we descend from Punto Unión to the Huaripampas valley until we arrive at Cachinapampsa for our final night's camping.
DAY 4 – Cachinapampa – Vaqueria (3000 m) – Huaraz
Distance 4km - walking time 2/3 hours
Today we have a short day trekking but still passing incredible scenery and sadly we will have to return to Huaraz in the waiting transport that we will find at Vaqueria.
