OVERVIEWOVERVIEW

This trek is considered one of the best treks in the world and for good reason. The scenery is unsurpassed - dramatic snow topped mountains, sublime glacial lakes and the wonderful solitude of the mountains for one and half weeks. Definitely an adventure of a lifetime. More and more people have been coming to Huaraz in order to do this trek since the area was made famous by Joe Simpson and his book (and later film) Touching the Void (Siula Grande the mountain they were climbing in amongst the Huay Huash range). There are several variations of this trek taking different amounts of days but this route is considered the "Classic Huay Huash Trek".

Any trek of 11 days cannot be considered easy and one that is mostly over 4000 meters (and goes up to 5000m) will be harder for anyone who is not acclimitised so we recommend you have spent some days in Huaraz prior to departing. That said , this trek is considered difficult to moderately difficult so should be suitable for most keen trekkers.
