I made a previous post on the blog annoucing my intention to Climb Huayna Potosi again in the coming months andd that i would be doing this with Osgur the owner of Loki La Paz. He has started to blog about this idea and will be posting his progress on the Loki Hostel Blog.
Yesterday I started doing some light training (got to start somewhere) by dog walking up and down the steeper hills in the village of Mallasa. I have three dogs (2 pretty big strong ones) so doing this seperately for each one meant i was walking these hills for about 1.5 hours so it was a decent start. This seemed like an easy way to start as i have to take the dogs out anyway so changing the walk to target the steep hills was good for me and them and im killing two birds with one stone.
Another friend has decided to join us and will be doing so in the role of guide. Gooey from Loki Travel in Cusco will be returning to La Paz (where he lived previosuly for many years) to lead the way to the summit.
Hopefully we will be able to go and try our first practice/training climb in the next month or so (depending on how our training is going / work commitments) Climbing Cerro Mankilisani is something i have been meaning to do for a while anyway as it is an day trip from La Paz and a suitable climb for those short on time.
