DAY 1 – Rurrenabaque to Lodge – Mapajo Trail 9.00 to 9.30 The group arrives at the meeting point before heading to the river to join up with the boat. The journey by river takes around 3 hours to the jungle lodge and passes through beautiful scenery including the impressive Bala Gorge. When we arrive at the lodge we will have lunch before setting off on a walk along the Mapajo Trail. Along this trail we will see huge ancient trees with fascinating root structures, learn about toxic and medicinal plants, see a variety of jungle fruits and be taught about the jungle environment. There will be lots of different insects and spiders that the guide will spot along the way and teach you about each one. With a mixture of skill and luck the guide may also lead us to some larger animals such as wild pigs, tapirs or sloths. We return to the lodge along the same trail and you have a chance for a quick swim if you wish. That evening after dinner the group goes on a night jungle walk to search for nocturnal animals. The jungle is an incredible place at night and the noise all around is unforgettable. DAY 2 – Ambayal Trail – Return to Rurrenabaque 7.30 to 8.00 Breakfast in the lodge and then we set off on a four hour trek along the Ambayal Trails where we will learn about more trees and plants , see swinging vines and hopefully track some animals. We will collect jungle fruits and seeds for making handicrafts. After lunch we will learn how to use the fruits and seeds to make ourselves a souvenir from the jungle. If the group does not wish to spend time making the handicrafts there is an option to go looking for macaws. We head back to Rurrenabaque by boat in the afternoon arriving around 6pm .
