Bike & Boat To Rurrrenabaque
The wildest way to get to Rurrenabaque.

2 Days mountain biking from Sorata to Coroico then 3 days down the river through the jungle in a motorized dugout canoe. 9 total hours in the boat, with excellent side hikes and activities.  Camping on the beach in the rainforest.
Difficulty levels - Biking - medium , Boat - Relaxing in the boat and the hikes are challenging but optional.

The Environment- mountainous near sorata , Tropical forests, Madidi National Park by Rurre

Accommodations- 1 night in las pierdras Monday in Sorata, 1 night in Coroico hotel,2 nights beach camping, we provide camping equipment (tents, sleeping bag, mat).

Food- Cooked meals included, vegetarian options.

Other Logistics
Trips leave on Tuesdays each week. Groups of 5 or more can arrange special departures.
We pick you up at Las Piedras in Sorata Tuesday AM so you need to be in Sorata the day before (Monday)

The jungle river trip should not been seen as a replacement for a pampas tour but as an exciting and adventurous way to travel to Rurre – a different experience and a trip in itself. It is well worth going on a pampas or other tour from Rurre when you arrive which we can arrange to start the day after. Ask for details.

ITINERARY DETAILS - Jungle River Trip - Coroico to Rurrenabaque

Day 1: A full day of riding from a 4800m pass aboive Sorata. descending from the High Andes, through the clouds and an arid cactus desert to the tropical yungas town of Conzata (1100m) and the friednly Hostel Don Beto

Day 2: A cross country ride down a dramatic canyon, through the lush forest and past cascading waterfalls. Cool down by swimming in teh crystal clear waters of Rio Vagante. The ride ends in the wild west gold mining town of Mapiri

Day 3: The river trip begins, we board the motorized dugout canoe and follow the canyon downstream to Guanay, where we eat lunch and visit the town. We then continue down to our camp, a nice spot next to a crystaline side creek with a nice pool. There is a short hike to a vertigo inducing overlook, then dinner by the fire.

Accommodations- in tents.
Food- lunch in a restaurant, dinner we prepare.

Day 4: After breakfast we hike up the creek to a big waterfall with a sweet swimming hole, then return back to the boat and continue travelling down the Rio Beni for about three hours. We do another hike in the afternoon and then arrive to the beach camp in Madidi National Park.
Accommodations - in tents.
Food- we prepare.

Day 5: Another long hike in the morning, then its about 4 hours down to the happening town of Rurrenabaque, where we arrive around 3 p.m.

 

The Price- 340us$ This includes everything from Sorata to Rurrenabaque, including the entrance fee to Madidi National Park.

What you need
•    Clothing for warm and cold weather. In the tropics it’s best to wear long pants and long sleeves for the insects.
•    Day pack for water, camera.
•    Bug Spray
•    ‘Teva’ type sandals or trainers for rugged trekking in a creek. Thongs/sandals aren’t good.
•    Sleeping Bag (we can provide, but its nice to have your own).
•    Malaria medication (Optional - malaria is possible in this area, though mosquitos are seldom seen and can be avoided).

Please ensure you provide the correct information and understand that this trip starts in Sorata. You must arrange to get to Sorata to meet up with the trip on Tuesday morning (this means being in Sorata the day before on the Monday)
