Chalalan is a world famous ecolodge founded in the early 1990s  that is entirely owned and operated by the local  indigenous community of  San Jose de Uchupiamonas. Located on the shores of Chalalan Lagoon and situated inside the spectacular Madidi National Park the lodge is reached by a 5 or 6 hour boat trip from Rurrenabaque up the Tuchi and Beni rivers.

The work of Chalalan has won eco-tourism awards and the lodges have been made from local rainforest materials harvested using sustainable methods. The project was a collaboration with Conservation International and Yossi Ghinsberg was vital in helping the community find funding for the project.For more infomation about the collaboration you can read a short history HERE

PROGRAMS INCLUDE

THE FIRST DAY OF A TOUR IS SPENT IN RURRENABAQUE AND INCLUDES THE HOTEL AND THE PRE TOUR BRIEFING. THE REST OF THE TIME IS YOUR OWN FREE TIME AND YOU MUST PAY FOR MEALS ON THIS DAY.

IF THERE ARE TRANSPORT DELAYS YOUR TOUR CAN BE MOVED FORWARD BUT IF YOU CANCEL A TOUR YOU WILL LOSE 20% OF THE TOTAL COST - THIS IS A COMPULSORY CHALALAN  FEE AND  KANOO TOURS WILL NOT ADD ANY ADDITIONAL CHARGES
